pull out your calendars…

by pieces of moments

…and circle some days in May.

Every Saturday I get to work with some of the most talented and fun young “classical” musicians in the entire city of Chicago (and surrounding areas) who are members of Chicago Symphony Youth Orchestras, and it’s time for them to show their stuff. If you’re one of those people who needs some viable proof that “classical” music is far from dying out, then look at the schedule here and come on out to renew your hope in the world. And if you’re a fan of Mahler 5 (and let’s be honest here…we all know how much Chicago loves their Mahler symphonies), then be sure to attend the May 16 show at Symphony Center (where our home team – the Chicago Symphony Orchestra – hangs out).  Sure, you can hear the grown-ups play Mahler 5 the following weekend, but can you possibly beat the excitement of a group of high school students getting to perform it for the First Time E.v.e.r??? Um, no.

Oh, and yes, you can purchase tickets online.

It’s gonna be pretty awesome. I’m really proud of them all.
