these days

by pieces of moments

A little known fact is that my favorite song isn’t by any of my favorite musical artists. It’s “These Days” by Jackson Browne.

The song has been covered a gazillion times, but one of my favorite versions is this simple interpretation by St. Vincent. Her slower tempo really brings out the lyric introspection and nostalgia woven into the fabric of the piece, like a perfect shade of dye that brings out the warp and weft perfectly – the simplicity of structure is the beauty of the thing. In the case of interpreting a song like this more is just more.
